Anglian Pharma Attend Pharmacy Show 2011

From October 9th -10th Anglian Pharma successfully exhibited at the Pharmacy Show held at the NEC in Birmingham.

The Pharmacy Show was the perfect opportunity to cement the links between the two companies and demonstrate how Anglian and Crescent Pharma work together.

In particular Anglian Pharma attended the pharmacy show with the aim of marketing themselves as a distributor of branded healthcare products. By highlighting the technical support provided by Crescent, the marketing team at Anglian were able to demonstrate their unique position and ability to market and distribute branded medical devices and healthcare products.

Through attendance at the show the Anglian Pharma sales team were also able to raise awareness amongst pharmacists of their current brands and help community pharmacists feel more confident about recommending their products.

By the end of the show both companies had had success in obtaining new contacts and leads as well as starting to establishing themselves as an united face in the pharmacy sector.

Crescent Pharma support IPF

Anglian Pharma’s parent company Crescent Pharma Ltd has pledged to back the Independent Pharmacy Federation alongside Sigma Pharmaceuticals and Genus Pharmaceuticals. The IPF is being re-launched with a new board of directors and Claire Ward, former MP and government minister, as chief executive officer. Free membership is being changed to paid membership with the aim of the organisation becoming self-financing.

Chief Executive of Crescent Pharma Mohammed Al Doori says ‘We are very pleased to be in a position to support the IPF; independent pharmacy is key to the continued growth and development of the pharmaceutical industry and it is important that their political interests are properly represented. By helping to relaunch the IPF as a subscription based organisation the board will be able to carry on their important work in a sustainable manner and to help them to do more in the future.’

Crescent Pharma Launch New Website

Anglian Pharma has recently hosted a charity fundraising event to assist those ladies in the local community who are currnetly, or who have previously, suffered from Breast Cancer.

The charity chosen was The Pink Place; a small charity based in Basingtoke that aims to assist those who have experienced or are curently experiencing Breast Cancer. The Pink Place offers a range of services, including counselling and general nutrition advice free of charge regardless of individual circumstances.

The charity was selelected for a range of reasons, including Anglian Pharma being keen to give back to the local community and an eagerness to assist a Womens Specific Cancer Chairty; a field they are already involved in through the ReplensMD brand.

ReplensMD is a longer lasting, non-hormonal vaginal moisturiser which is often given to ladies suffering from atrophy as a result of chemotherapy, radiotherapy or who are currently precribed Tamoxifen. Launch of new Wellgate for Women joint supports

Flattering, comfortable and designed just for women, Wellgate’s new orthopaedic supports are set to revolutionise the way women think about their joints.

Following a survey of over 6,000 women, which showed that women’s wrists are, on average, more than 10% smaller than men’s, Wellgate has custom designed a range of smaller supports. In light of the rapid growth of Facebook, with over 25 million active users situated in the UK, Anglian Pharma have embraced the social network and joined Facebook. By establishing a fan page it is hoped that Anglian Pharma will be better able to engage with its customers, suppliers and the local community. In addition to this corporate page a brand page for ReplensMD has also been established with the aim of engaging current customers in conversation around the topic of vaginal atrophy and menopause.

Anglian Pharma supports Breast Cancer Campaign’s wear it pink day 2010.

On Friday, 29^th October, Anglian Pharma took a special interest in Breast Cancer Campaign’s wear it pink day.

Due to the fact that ReplensMD is often used in the post-care treatment of Breast Cancer sufferers the team at Anglian Pharma were particularly enthusiastic about the event. The whole office wore an item of pink on the day and enjoyed a variety of pink cakes and drinks.

Breast Cancer is the most common form of cancer and one in nine women in the United Kingdom will be affected by it during her lifetime. With approximately 26% of women diagnosed with Breast Cancer being pre-menopausal, many experience significant changes to their normal sexual function. Cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, or radiotherapy to the pelvic area, can cause changes to the vagina that can lead to dryness, ulcers and infection. These physical changes as well as the emotional effects of Breast Cancer can significantly affect a woman’s sex life.

How does the Menopause affect intimate health?

A woman’s body goes through many changes as a result of menopause and vaginal dryness is a common problem. During the menopause there is a natural decrease in the amount of the hormone oestrogen being produced by the body. Vaginal moisturiser Replens MD, which provides a hormone-free solution to vaginal atrophy, is becoming increasingly popular with menopausal women, says the manufacturer.

Sales of Replens grew by 20 per cent in 2009.

The best selling line was the 35g tube with re-usable applicator, which saw a 27 per cent increase in sales.

Linda Pearson, marketing manager at manufacturer Anglian Pharma, believes the popularity of the 35g tube, which provides 12 applications and retails at £9.99, shows that consumers are seeking value for money. In March a new applicator with a more comfortable tip is being introduced.

And investment in advertising and advertorials, which will double in 2010, is driving sales. Anglian Pharma has also been working with celebrity GP Dr Sarah Jarvis to raise consumer awareness of sexual health and the older woman.

Ms Pearson says: “We feel the issue of vaginal atrophy is one that needs a lot more discussion to help women understand that it is a common condition and not something they should feel embarrassed about.”

“Consumer attitudes are changing. The baby boomer generation is now going through the menopause and they are much more willing to look for different options,” Ms Pearson adds.

Anglian Pharma announce a substantial increase in ReplensMD sales since launching a new pharmacy counter display unit during July 2009.

Anglian Pharma UK pharmacy have reported an overall uplift in sales for August of 103% across ReplensMD product lines. The uplift has been seen in independent pharmacies since the launch of the new merchandising unit. The ReplensMD pharmacy counter display unit not only draws the customer's attention but also provides useful training information on vaginal dryness for pharmacy staff on a pull-out back panel.
